The Eastern Capital

The City of Midland is the centre piece of the area collectively known as the Swan Districts. Settled just prior to settlement at Perth, the City has grown into the metropolitan area’s “eastern capital”.

Since 2001 Midland has been undergoing one of the State’s largest urban renewal programs that is transforming the City and revitalising this iconic gateway to the beautiful Swan Valley and Perth Hills.

The award-winning Midland redevelopment area is well progressed, with planning control for 43% of the project now completed. The State Government estimates that when completed the redevelopment of the City will have injected over $1.2 billion into the local economy and have created over 7,500 permanent jobs.

Midland has recently been designated as a tourism shopping precinct which along with the extensive redevelopment of its centre has resulted in it becoming a vibrant and flourishing cultural hub.
